Pastor joins Uptown Baptist Church

Uptown Baptist Church (UBC) welcomes their new senior pastor, Reverend Michael N. Allen, after a four-year search. Although he began working at UBC in September, Pastor Allen was officially installed as Senior Pastor at the church on Sunday, Nov. 20.

Pastor Allen was born in Kingston, Jamaica and grew up in Miami. His wife, Marliza (Marla), is from Brazil. They have four children: Rachel, Phillip, Daniel, and Abigail, the latter born just one month after the Allen family arrived in Chicago and only three days after they moved into their new home.

Pastor Allen has worked in a variety of environments, from historic Moody Church to megachurch Sagemont Church in Houston, Texas, as well as gaining experience in corporate America, such as with the Xerox Company. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the board of directors at the Pacific Garden Mission, in downtown Chicago.

Pastor Allen is only the third senior pastor in UCB’s 25-year history
