Plans are advancing for a mixed-use development project on a site that includes Uptown's 5-acre Wilson Yard. In a meeting with more than 200 Uptown community residents at Truman College on February 19, it was announced that five buildings are planned for the site, which runs along Broadway, east of the CTA's Red Line tracks roughtly between Montrose and Wilson Avenues. Planned for the site, according to the developer, Peter Holsten, are a commercial building with 190,000 square feet of ground-floor space and a second-story cinema; a small retail building with affordable senior housing on the upper floors; a new Aldi store; a commercial building with a ground-floor restaurant and offices on the upper floor; and a rental apartment building.
