Holiday Party and Clothing DriveCome and join the UCC Holiday Party with UCC members, your neighbors and friends for a great time while supporting the UCC's efforts to make Uptown the city's best place to live. At the party, we will be collecting winter clothing (coats, gloves, hats, scarfs) for donation to Care For Real Chicago for distribution to people in our area who are in need.
Enhancing the Quality of Life for Families
This spring, UCC held two events that focused on families. At the April 13th, 2010 meeting, UCC members and other community residents met with members of the Woodlawn Community Development Corporation, the management company of the CHA housing in the neighborhood. Denise Harris, the Senior Property Manager, addressed some of their public safety concerns. To assist with this, CHA is in the midst of installing a number of high tech cameras to enhance the security of a number of their sites.
On May 11, 2010, Margo De Ley, PhD, the Partnership Coordinator from Chicago Public School’s Office of Academic Enhancement, discussed with parents some of the many options available to provide children with advanced educational programs. A number of parents with babies came to get a head start on the options that are available. |
