The Community Development Commission at its Nov. 9 meeting approved a plan to build a mixed-use professional building on vacant city-owned property at 1122-44 W. Winona. Under the plan, the 9,300 square-foot parcel would be sold to Asian Village LLC for the appraised value of $466,000 in order to build a one-story medical building and parking lot. Asian Village is a husband and wife development team, Dr. Linh Duy Nguyen and Dr. Phuong Tran. Nguyen has been practicing dentistry in Uptown since 1987. His wife, Tran, worked as a physician for the University of Chicago and Weiss hospitals before opening her private practice.
